My wife is has known her best friend Yelena since the 6th grade. When we started dating at 15 she helped us hide it from my wife’s parents when we would sneak out for make out sessions and whatnot. They told each other everything. Yelena was the first person to know when we lost our virginity.

We grew up, got married, had kids, but they remained just as close as ever. Yelena couldn’t keep a relationship going though. She came out as bi in highschool. Even made out with my wife at a party once but it didn’t go any further. She had had a serious relationship in her 20s that left her kinda broken for a long time after. A few years ago she got to the point in her life where she wanted a baby, but had no desire prospects.

She had made up her mind to try artificial insemination. It was a big gamble. It was a very expensive process and she could only afford to do it the once. Unfortunately it didn’t take and she was heartbroken. She was still desperate for a child but she couldn’t afford to try again. One night while she was over our place she was playing with our kids and she said that’s what she wanted. “It’s not fair. It was so easy for you guys.”
